Bhubaneswar, Nov 10: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday wished the people on Mandia Divas (Millet Day).
In a social media post, the Chief Minister said, “Mandia or Sri Anna is not just a common food, but plays an important role in building a healthy society by controlling malnutrition.”
CM Majhi also urged the people of the State to promote millet-based food to build a healthy, prosperous and developed Odisha.

The Chief Minister will also inaugurate the 'Millet Mission' today.

✨Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo said, "The Prime Minister had declared 10th November as the International Day of Millets. So this year, we are observing the International Day of Millets on November 10th and 11th in Bhubaneswar. We are going to have 10 technical sessions spread over two days. The CM (Mohan Charan Majhi) is going to inaugurate the 'Millet Mission' on November 10."
Singh Deo further said that this event would be on forgotten crops that are grown in the tribal and the mascot also bears the name Milli which has been derived from millets.
"This mission is about educating people to eat healthy, live healthy and eat fresh. I am sure that all the international participants who are coming for this two-day symposium and the other technical experts, through their interaction, are going to enlighten all the people of the state," he said.
Mandia Divas is celebrated in Odisha on November 10 every year to promote the nutrient-rich and climate-resilient food for good health.
