Odisha CM Assures Relief After Aerial Survey of Flood-Hit Districts

Bhubaneswar, Jul 30: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected regions across Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur districts, followed by a press briefing outlining the government’s response strategy.

 

The CM confirmed that eight blocks across three districts have been severely impacted, affecting over 30,000 people in 81 villages.

 

In Balasore, the blocks of Basta, Baliapal, Bhograi, and Jaleswar are among the worst-hit. Bhadrak district has seen damage in Dhamnagar and Bhandaripokhari, while Jajpur district’s Jajpur town and Dasarathpur blocks have also suffered significant losses.

 

The Chief Minister revealed that 5,869 people have been relocated to safer areas, and the flood situation is currently under control. Relief efforts are ongoing, with 10,000 people receiving cooked meals twice a day.

Medical teams are on high alert, especially in areas prone to snake bites, and essential medicines are in stock. Instructions have been issued to assess the extent of damage in affected areas.

 

CM Majhi stated that water drainage from submerged regions may take another two days, and compensation will be provided to those whose homes have been damaged.

 

The state government has emphasized its commitment to zero casualty, deploying emergency teams and ensuring food, shelter, and medical care for all affected citizens. The Chief Minister reiterated that Odisha is fully prepared to tackle the flood crisis, with coordinated efforts from local administration and disaster response units.
