Bhubaneswar, Jun 10: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, in a press conference her, commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his transformative leadership over the past 11 years, highlighting a significant decline in India’s extreme poverty rate.
Citing a World Bank report, CM Majhi noted that the percentage of people living in extreme poverty has dropped from 27.1% to 5.3% in 13 years, lifting nearly 27 crore Indians out of hardship.
The press conference marked two milestones—the completion of 11 years of the Modi-led central government and one year of Majhi’s own administration in Odisha. He emphasized that Modi’s leadership, despite never holding a ministerial position before becoming Chief Minister and later Prime Minister, is a testament to dedication and service to the people.
CM Majhi lauded key policy reforms under Modi’s tenure, including the abrogation of Article 370, the abolition of triple talaq, and the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) under the One Nation, One Tax principle. He also praised the National Education Policy (NEP) for modernizing India’s education system and making it more inclusive.

✨Acknowledging Modi’s push for financial inclusion, CM Majhi credited the Jan Dhan Yojana for integrating millions into the banking system. Welfare initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat and farmer-centric programs were highlighted as vital instruments in improving livelihoods and economic security.
The Chief Minister also addressed India’s stance on national security, emphasizing the country’s proactive approach to tackling terrorism. He referenced Operation Sindoor as a significant step in ensuring the safety and dignity of citizens, reaffirming India’s commitment to global security efforts.
