Odisha CM Announces Regularisation Of Over 13,000 Teachers, 45,000 New Recruitments

Education awards and curriculum reforms launched on Teachers’ Day.

Bhubaneswar, Sep 5: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday announced the regularisation of over 13,000 teachers appointed under various schemes and revealed plans to recruit 45,000 more over the next three years.


The announcement was made during the State-Level Teachers’ Day Celebration and Chief Minister’s Education Award Ceremony held in the State Capital.

 

Tackling Dropout Rates

To address school dropout rates, especially among tribal students, the CM highlighted the extension of the midday meal scheme up to Class 10. He also introduced the ‘Madho Singh Haat Kharcha’ scheme, offering a one-time incentive of Rs5,000 to Scheduled Tribe students enrolling in Classes 9 and 11. The initiative follows a survey indicating that 24% of tribal students drop out before reaching higher classes.

Awards and Felicitations

During the event, Jharsuguda district received Rs3 crore for topping the Chief Minister’s Education Award programme, followed by Khurda with Rs 2 crore and Jagatsinghpur with Rs 1 crore. A total of 70 teachers, three District Education Officers, three District Education Training Institutes, and ten Block Education Officers were felicitated. Two tribal students who cleared NEET were also honored.

 

Future Vision

CM Majhi unveiled the Odisha Curriculum Framework for School Education–2025, aligned with the National Education Policy. He also launched a coffee table book marking one year of Shikrut Odisha and introduced the ‘Padhiba, Gadhiba Odisha Abhiyan’ to promote holistic learning.

 

Speaking on the occasion, School and Mass Education Minister Nityanand Gond praised the role of teachers in shaping the society and lauded the Guru-Sishya tradition.
