Bhubaneswar, Aug 8: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday announced a cash reward of Rs 15 lakh to each team member of the India men's hockey team and Rs 10 lakh for supporting staffers for winning the bronze medal at the ongoing Paris Olympics.
The Chief Minister also announced a special cash prize of Rs 4 crore for Amit Rohidas, who hails from Odisha.
Speaking to the media, Majhi said, "I congratulate the Indian men's hockey team for winning the bronze medal against Spain at the Paris Olympics. This bronze medal is a reflection of our dedication to hockey. The people of Odisha are proud of this achievement."
"I have invited all the players to come to Odisha. I am announcing a prize of Rs 15 lakh to each player and Rs 10 lakh to the support staff. I am also announcing a special award of Rs 4 crore for Odisha's son, Amit Rohidas. This achievement must encourage countless sportspersons of Odisha," he added.
CM Majhi also spoke to the team members through video conferencing.
