Bhubaneswar, Apr 7: In a terrific incident, an ambulance carrying a seriously ill patient caught fire while on the way to a medical college in Bhubaneswar late Sunday night.

The ambulance, which had been transporting a patient suffering from a snakebite from Delang CHC, caught fire near Pipili Selfie Point.

Fortunately, the patient and the ambulance staff narrowly escaped serious harm. The patient was safely transferred to another ambulance and went to the hospital.

Preliminary reports suggest that the fire may have been triggered by a battery short-circuit. The Pipili police and fire service personnel arrived immediately at the spot and managed to control the blaze.
