Cuttack, Apr 20: In a significant breakthrough, Badamba police have arrested Tayab Khan, alias Chhota Kalia, the alleged mastermind behind a major cow smuggling racket operating in the Tigiria-Baramana jungle of Cuttack district, Odisha.

Athagarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer Biswajit Mohanty confirmed the development and stated that Tayab Khan was one of the key figures in the illegal trade spanning Athagarh, Tigiria, Badamba, and Kanpur regions.

The smuggling operation involved transporting cows through dense forest areas, with links to organised crime syndicates.

Police investigations revealed that Tayab Khan was also involved in firing incidents in Baideswar, further highlighting his criminal activities.

The rise in cow smuggling cases has raised concerns among authorities and the local community, emphasising the urgent need for stricter measures to curb such illegal activities.
