✨The state government had introduced a supplementary budget of around ₹12,000 crore last year, which was directed towards infrastructure development, welfare schemes, and disaster management.
This year’s allocation is expected to be slightly higher, underscoring the government’s focus on expanding welfare measures and meeting developmental priorities.
Officials suggest that the additional budget will cover critical areas such as healthcare, education, rural development, and disaster preparedness. With Odisha frequently facing natural calamities, a significant portion of the funds is likely to be earmarked for strengthening relief and rehabilitation mechanisms.
The cabinet meeting comes at a time when the state is preparing for the winter session of the Assembly, where financial management and policy implementation will be key topics of debate.
By approving the supplementary budget, the Council of
Ministers will pave the way for its formal introduction in the Assembly,
ensuring that the government has the necessary financial backing to continue
its welfare and development initiatives.
