Bhubaneswar, Jul 9: The Odisha government is expected to undergo a cabinet expansion in the coming days, as confirmed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Manmohan Samal.

Speaking to reporters, Samal stated that discussions with the central leadership have concluded and several decisions have already been taken regarding the expansion.

“This cabinet expansion will happen very soon,” Samal assured, adding that the party is committed to strengthening governance and fulfilling its promises to the people. The move comes amid growing anticipation within political circles and among party workers, especially after the BJP’s historic victory in the 2024 Assembly elections, which saw the party form its first-ever independent government in Odisha.

Sources indicate that the expansion will aim to balance regional representation, caste diversity, and administrative experience. With several key portfolios still vacant and demands rising from various districts, the BJP leadership is expected to induct new faces to ensure smoother governance and broader outreach.

Manmohan Samal, who was recently re-elected for a fourth term as BJP’s Odisha unit president, has been instrumental in coordinating between the party and the government. His leadership is seen as pivotal in maintaining unity and driving the party’s grassroots agenda forward.

The cabinet expansion is also expected to address internal aspirations within the party, especially among leaders who played crucial roles during the election campaign but are yet to be accommodated in governance roles.
