Key Points

Odisha Cabinet’s latest decisions focus on education, healthcare, irrigation, and administrative reforms.

Bhubaneswar, Apr 23: The Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has approved six significant proposals aimed at enhancing governance and development across the state.

One of the key decisions includes raising the minimum qualification for Anganwadi Supervisors to graduation, replacing the earlier matriculation requirement. This move is expected to improve the quality of supervision in the Women and Child Development sector.

The Cabinet also approved amendments to the Excise Department Rules, 2017, and restructured the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe cadre, creating 24 new posts. Additionally, the Excise Constable division has been reorganized into a district cadre for better administrative efficiency.

In the Water Resources sector, the Cabinet sanctioned ₹108 crore for the development of the Baitarani Left and Right Canals. This project aims to irrigate 60,000 hectares of farmland in Bhadrak, Balasore, and Keonjhar districts, significantly benefiting the agricultural community.

The Health Department received a major boost with the approval of ₹2,398 crore for the 108 Ambulance Service over the next five years. This initiative will ensure the operation of 866 ambulances, strengthening emergency healthcare services across the state.

These decisions reflect the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure, governance, and public welfare in Odisha.
