Bhubaneswar, Oct 25: The Odisha State Cabinet, headed by
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, on Saturday convened its 29th meeting at Lok
Seva Bhawan here and approved five significant proposals spanning transport,
agriculture, animal husbandry, aviation, and urban development, officials said.

The decisions reflect the state government’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure, rural empowerment, and modernization.
In a major push for green mobility, the cabinet approved the rollout of 200 electric buses over the next 10 years. The first phase will see 25 buses each deployed in Angul, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, and Baripada, while Berhampur and Sambalpur will receive 50 buses each. The project will cost Rs 952.56 crore, with Rs 512 crore allocated for the first five years—fully funded by the state government.

The cabinet also cleared the “Small Livestock Development Sub-Scheme” under the broader Livestock Prosperity Mission. With an estimated outlay of Rs 294.36 crore over four years, the scheme aims to benefit over 23,735 farmers and enhance annual per capita production of fish by 5.2 kg and meat by 7.4 kg.
To strengthen air connectivity and logistics, Rs 4,182 crore has been earmarked for the development and modernization of aviation infrastructure. This includes improvements in air connectivity, maintenance, cargo handling, logistics, and the adoption of new technologies.
A three-year crop diversification programme worth Rs1,523.98 crore was also approved to promote sustainable farming practices and enhance farmers’ income.
