Dry and cold northwesterly winds are entering Odisha, triggering a noticeable drop in nighttime temperatures. Over the next 24 hours, southern and northern interior regions will begin to feel the chill. From November 2 onward, the entire state is expected to see a 2–4°C decline in night temperatures, intensifying the winter feel.
Weather expert Surendra Nath Pasupalak predicted that this year’s winter will be shorter in duration but marked by sudden cold snaps. “The cold will come late and leave early, but it will be felt strongly in between,” he said.

Moisture Levels and Future Outlook
IMD Bhubaneswar Director, Manorama Mohanty noted that high humidity levels due to multiple weather systems have led to the current muggy conditions. As these systems dissipate, humidity will drop, paving the way for cooler nights and a more pronounced winter experience.
In the past 24 hours, several regions recorded moderate to heavy rainfall, with Nawana in Mayurbhanj district logging the highest at 92.2 mm.
