Bhubaneswar, Nov 14: The India Meteorological Department (IMD)on Tuesday forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over several districts for five days from November 15 following the formation of a low pressure in the Bay of Bengal.
A low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal and is likely to intensify into a depression around November 16, IMD Bhubaneswar said .
"Under the influence of the upper air cyclonic circulation over the Andaman-Nicobar Islands and adjoining areas of the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal, a low-pressure area has formed over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman-Nicobar Islands. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to upper tropospheric levels, tilting southwestward with height," IMD Bhubaneswar posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"It is likely to move west-northwestward and intensify into a depression over the West Central Bay of Bengal around November 16, 2023," it added.

Under its influence, several places in Odisha are likely to receive light to moderate rain from November 15, the IMD forecast in its latest bulletin.
November 15
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Khordha and Cuttack.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places places over the districts Ganjam, Puri, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Khordha, Nayagarh and at many places over the districts of Balasore, Gajapati, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur and at a few places over the districts of Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi & at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Puri and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Khordha, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jajpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal and Nayagarh. A yellow weather warning has been issued for these districts.
November 17
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur and at many places over the districts of Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri and at a few places over the districts of Angul, Sundargarh, Deogarh and at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Ganjam, Boudh, Kandhamal.
A yellow warning of heavy rainfall has been issued for the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Kendrapara.
November 18
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Keonjhar.
November 19
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Nabarangpur.
November 20
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Koraput.
