Bhubaneswar, July 11: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha vehemently criticized the Congress’ “Samvidhan Bachao Samabesh” (Save the Constitution rally) held in Bhubaneswar today, accusing the grand old party of misusing and disrespecting the Constitution.
In a press meet here, Odisha BJP Vice-President Biranchi Narayan Tripathi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party and said that the rally in the city was not about protecting constitutional values but rather a desperate attempt to revive the Congress party’s dwindling relevance.
The BJP leader claimed that Congress’s rally was a political stunt aimed at regaining lost relevance in Odisha, where the party has struggled to maintain a foothold. “This is not a ‘Save Constitution’ rally, instead it’s a ‘Save Congress’ campaign,” he said.
Tripathi accused the Congress of hypocrisy, citing past constitutional amendments for political gain and calling the party a dynastic outfit lacking internal democracy.

✨The BJP leader further criticized Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for allegedly insulting the President of India, Droupadi Murmu and demanded a public apology on Odisha soil. He called the act “disgraceful and condemnable,” asserting that such behavior undermines the dignity of the nation’s highest constitutional office.
Tripathy also accused the Congress of distancing itself from the common people and claimed the party has repeatedly strangled democracy. He cited the misuse of Article 356 and blamed Congress for the deteriorating situation in Kashmir. “Congress lives in a glass house but throws stones at others,” he said.
The rally, led by senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, was intended to highlight alleged threats to constitutional values and tribal rights under the current government. However, the BJP dismissed the event as a desperate attempt to revive the Congress party’s decreasing influence.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders reiterated their commitment to protecting tribal rights and democratic institutions. They accused the BJP of undermining constitutional principles and marginalizing vulnerable communities.
