Bhubaneswar, Apr 16: The political landscape in Odisha heated up as Congress leaders staged protests across the state following the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) chargesheet against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case. The case has sparked a war of words between the Congress and the BJP.
Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal criticised Congress, accusing the party of exploiting public resources for personal gain. "Congress has turned government funds into their personal ATM, and the Gandhi family has looted the nation while oppressing the poor," stated Samal.
He further alleged that Congress leaders are attempting to evade accountability by targeting the ED.
Amid the chaos, Robert Vadra, who is also under scrutiny in a separate land corruption case, has vowed to cooperate with the ED and answer all questions.
As the political drama unfolds, both parties continue to trade barbs, leaving the public to grapple with the implications of these allegations and counter-allegations.
About National Herald Case
It is the ongoing case in a Delhi court filed by politician Subramanian Swamy against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, their companies and associated persons. The complaint, filed in the court, Associated Journals Limited (AJL) took an interest-free loan of ₹90.25 crore from Indian National Congress.
It is alleged that the loan was not repaid. A closely held company, Young Indian, was incorporated in November 2010 with a paid up capital of ₹5 Lac and it acquired almost all the shareholding of AJL and all its properties (alleged to be worth ₹5,000 crore). Swamy alleged criminal misappropriation by both members of the Gandhi family.
