Jajpur, Jun 16: The cholera and diarrhea outbreak in Jajpur district has intensified, with the death toll rising to seven and 258 individuals undergoing treatment.
A 14-member central team has arrived to assess the situation and implement containment measures.
The outbreak has severely impacted six blocks in the district, prompting surprise inspections by health officials. The central team is set to visit Dharmasala, Danagadi, Korei, and Jajpur blocks to evaluate the crisis firsthand.
The Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital has admitted over 90 patients, with six new cases reported on Monday morning. Authorities suspect contaminated water and food as the primary sources of infection.

To curb the spread, the local administration has ordered a two-week shutdown of all hotels, street food stalls, ice cream factories, and poultry shops in affected areas.
