Cuttack, Sep 17: In a major development, the Odisha State Bar Council has suspended Advocate Archana Nag from legal practice citing serious discrepancies in her enrollment application, officials said on Wednesday.
The decision was taken during the Council’s general meeting held on September 14, 2025, in Cuttack. The suspension will remain in force until disciplinary proceedings against Archana are concluded, informed Bar Council Chairman Sitanshu Mohan Dwivedi.
False Information in Application
The Council’s action follows revelations that Archana Nag, a resident of Bhubaneswar, allegedly concealed multiple criminal cases pending against her during her enrollment process. According to Bar Council Chairman Dwivedi, Archana falsely declared in her registration form that she had no criminal cases and was not involved in any other profession—despite being a director of two companies.
These omissions, violating several clauses of the Advocates Act, 1961, were deemed fraudulent and deceptive. The Council unanimously resolved to suspend her during its general meeting held on September 14.

Further investigation revealed that Archana is associated with multiple business entities and serves as a director in at least two companies. These affiliations were also not disclosed in her application. The Council noted that such deliberate suppression of facts amounts to professional misconduct and fraud.
