Bhubaneswar, Jul 17: In a proactive move to ensure public safety and seamless access to emergency support, the Commissionerate Police has issued a dedicated helpline number.

The helpline will remain active throughout the bandh period.

With widespread road blockades, vehicle stoppages, and allegations of aggressive protest behaviour—including interference with medical and passenger services—the Commissionerate Police has also deployed drone surveillance, AI-equipped monitoring systems, and enhanced ground force presence to manage sensitive zones.

A statewide bandh called by eight opposition parties protesting the tragic death of a student from Fakir Mohan Autonomous College in Balasore, has put normal life to a standstill. The bandh led to widespread road blockades, suspended transport services, and closed institutions across the state.
