Bhubaneswar, Oct 19: Odisha sportspersons have once again brought laurels to the state with stellar performances at national-level water sports events. Odia para sailor Monali Swain clinched a silver and a bronze medal at the Asian Inclusive Sailing for Para Sailors competition held in Mysuru, defeating participants from multiple countries in her category.

In a parallel achievement, Soumyajit Ray Krish, the youngest windsurfer from Odisha, secured double medals at the Junior National Wind Surfing Championship. Both athletes are now preparing for upcoming international events, including the Para Olympics, Youth Olympics, and the Asian Games.

Training sessions for these athletes are currently underway near the Mahanadi River in Cuttack, under the supervision of renowned scuba diver Dr. Sabir Bux. The Odisha Yachting Association is facilitating the training, with support from the State Sports Department, which also felicitated the athletes upon their arrival in Bhubaneswar.
