Odisha Assistant Engineer’s Crores in Assets Unearthed in Vigilance Raid

Bhubaneswar, Jul 31: In a high-profile anti-corruption crackdown, Odisha Vigilance officials raided multiple properties linked to Ashok Kumar Panda, Assistant Engineer of R&B Division-III, Bhubaneswar, uncovering disproportionate assets worth crores of rupees.
The raid, now in its third day, revealed a staggering portfolio of real estate and valuables. Properties include flats in Royal Habitat (Jatani), DLF shopping space, Grace Apartment, Grand Awas (Phulnakhara), Utkal Uptia, and Bipul Garden, along with a plot in Athagarh.
A benami plot in Cosmopolis, jointly owned with another engineer, Raja Kishore Jena, was also traced.
During the raid, Panda attempted to evade detection by locking himself and his family inside their flat and throwing a bag containing valuables out the window. The bag was recovered with ₹1 lakh in cash, 125.33 grams of gold, 117.1 grams of silver, an iPhone, vehicle keys, and original land documents.

Further searches revealed a four-storey house in Dumduma and another in Dumduma Housing Board Colony, a 4BHK flat in Cosmopolis, two shops in Utkal Galleria and one in Symphony Mall, eight plots in Bhubaneswar and Puri, ₹37.97 lakh in bank and postal deposits, and a four-wheeler and household items worth ₹21 lakh.
Officials confirmed that Panda’s assets far exceed his known sources of income. Investigations are ongoing, and further legal action is expected.
