Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: The Winter Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die on Tuesday, 18 days ahead of its scheduled conclusion on December 31.
Speaker Surama Padhy announced the adjournment following a motion moved by government chief whip Saroj Kumar Pradhan, who stated that no major official business remained pending.
Originally planned for 29 sittings, the session concluded
after 11 working days. The session was marked by a historic moment on November
27, when President Droupadi Murmu addressed the Assembly, becoming the first
President of India to do so.

During its brief tenure, the House approved a Supplementary Budget of Rs17,440 crore for the financial year 2025–26.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also holds the Finance portfolio, presented the Supplementary Budget proposal on November 28 to ensure effective implementation of priority welfare and development schemes. The Appropriation Bill for the supplementary budget was passed through a voice vote after a debate on December 8.
In addition to the Appropriation Bill, six other Bills were passed, including those related to the enhancement of pensions for former members and revisions in the salaries of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, ministers, and MLAs.
The session was noted for its smooth conduct, with Chief Minister Majhi, Deputy Leader of the Opposition Prasanna Acharya, and Congress Legislature Party leader Rama Chandra Kadam expressing gratitude to all members for their cooperation.
The early adjournment underscores the Assembly’s focus on completing essential legislative business while highlighting the significance of President Murmu’s address and the passage of key financial measures.
