Odisha Assembly: Two More Congress MLAs Suspended For Unruly Behaviour

Bhubaneswar, Mar 26: A day after suspension of as many as 12 Congress MLAs, Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy Wednesday suspended Tara Prasad Bahinipati and Ramesh Jena for 7 days for unruly behaviour.

With this, all 14 MLAs of Congress have been placed under suspension.

Speaker Surama Padhy took the decision after both legislators continued to disrupt the House proceedings by beating gongs.

Notably on March 25, 12 MLAs of Congress were placed under suspension. This include Congress Legislature Party Leader Ramachandra Kadam, Ashok Kumar Das, Satyajeet Gamango, Pabitra Saunta, Sagar Charan Das, Nilamadhab Hikaka, Prafulla Chandra Pradhan, Sofia Firdous, Dr CS Raazen Ekka, Mangu Khilla, Dasarathi Gamango and Kadraka Apalaswamy.

Earlier in the day, a massive uproar was witnessed outside the Assembly as Congress workers scuffled with police personnel after the protesting workers attempted to barge into the Assembly premises by breaking the barricades.

Congress MLAs have been protesting since the beginning of the second phase of the Budget session on March 7 over the issue of rising crime against women and children. Since Friday, Congress MLAs, dressed in black, have been playing gongs and flutes to press their demand for an Assembly committee to probe crimes against women.
