Odisha Assembly Session Begins Amid Governor's Address

Bhubaneswar, Feb 5: The 15th session of the 16th Odisha Legislative Assembly (OLA) began with Governor Raghubar Das' Address this morning.
At the outset, the Governor paid tributes to the former Government of MM Rajendran, former Members of the House and Jawans who laid life for the country.
The Governor highlighted various achievements of the State government in his speech.
He said his government recently dedicated the Shrimandir Heritage Corridor in Puri and Samaleswari Pariyojana in Sambalpur. Besides, development works have been undertaken at various religious sites across the State, he said.
The Governor said his government is currently organizing the Odia Language Conference for the promotion of Odia language. Odia University has been unveiled at Satyabadi in Puri, the birthplace of Utkalamani Gopabandhu, to undertake research and development of the language.

✨At the outset, the governor was given the guard of honour on his arrival in the Assembly premises.
In a first, Governor Das delivered his speech in Hindi. Earlier Governers had presented speeches in English.
The Assembly is scheduled to run till February 13 with seven working days in between. Bikram Keshari Arukha will present Vote-on-Account on February 8 and the Appropriation Bill will be tabled and passed the following day.
