Bhubaneswar, July 22: The first session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly has been adjourned till Tuesday morning with obituary references to former Odisha Governor, several ex-legislators and other notable personalities.
The first day of the session commenced on Monday with the address of Governor Raghubar Das to the House. After the Governor's address, the members of the House paid rich tributes to departed eminent personalities including former Odisha Governor Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare.
The members also paid tribute to deceased former Ministers Surendra Nath Naik, Damodar Rout and Dambarudhar Ulaka, former MLA Sugnana Kumari Deo and Padma Shri awardee Kamala Pujari.
As a mark of respect to the departed leaders, Speaker Surama Padhy adjourned the proceedings till tomorrow.
The first session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly will continue till September 13.

Meanwhile, three-layer security arrangements have been made in and around the state assembly for the session, which will continue till September 13.
In the 147-member assembly, the BJP has 78 members, the BJD 51, the Congress 14, and the CPI one, while there are also three Independent MLAs.
