Kataka, Oct 24: The death of Assistant Sub‑Inspector (ASI) Jitendra Senapati has raised serious questions after his body was discovered in a grievously injured state on the railway tracks near Kathajodi.

The circumstances of his death remain unclear, with investigators yet to determine whether it was suicide or homicide.

He was undergoing training at Bairi in Jajpur district and had recently performed duty during the Dussehra festival in Kataka. His sudden death on Friday has shocked many.

This incident is not isolated. In July this year, Beauty Mohanty, the IIC of Chauliaganj police station, was found dead in a hanging position inside her quarters.

Though initially suspected to be suicide, the post‑mortem report indicated death due to suffocation, leaving doubts unresolved.

The recurring deaths of police officers under mysterious circumstances have sparked debate about whether work pressure or personal disputes are driving them to extreme steps. When asked, the DCP declined to comment on the matter.

The death of ASI Senapati remains shrouded in mystery. Only a thorough investigation can reveal whether it was suicide or murder, and the true cause behind this tragic end.
