Nayagarh, July 2: In a shocking daylight heist, seven armed miscreants on Wednesday stormed into the Indian Bank branch at Jemadeipur in Odisha’s Nayagarh district and looted over Rs 20 lakh in cash along with gold ornaments from customers.
As per reports, the incident occurred around 4 PM, just as the bank was preparing to close for the day.

ccording to eyewitnesses, the robbers arrived on four motorcycles and entered the bank brandishing firearms and iron rods. At the time, only two female customers and a few staff members were present. The assailants assaulted bank employees, leaving the peon and cashier with serious head injuries, before looting the cash counter and snatching valuables from customers.

✨One woman reportedly lost Rs 20,000 in cash, while another was robbed of her gold chain. The robbers swiftly collected the loot and fled from the spot.
After getting information, local police from Sadar Police Station reached the bank and started an investigation. CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify the culprits, sources said.
As per the latest reports, police detained two suspects for questioning and continued to raid in multiple locations in this connection.
