Bhubaneswar, Aug 25: In a strategic move to attract investment and strengthen its industrial base, the Odisha government on Monday approved two major policies: the Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy 2025 and the IT Policy 2025.
The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy aims to position Odisha as a leading hub for electronics production while reducing India’s dependence on imported components. According to Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, the policy is designed to generate high-skilled employment and foster a self-reliant electronics ecosystem aligned with the national “Make in India” vision.
Under the new framework, investors will be eligible for a 50% capital subsidy on the first ten large-scale projects. Additional benefits include land allocation, rental assistance, 10-year exemption from electricity duty, and power tariff reimbursements. For mega projects investing over Rs500 crore or creating more than 1,000 jobs, tailored concessions will be provided to encourage large-scale participation.

The Odisha IT Policy 2025, also approved during the meeting, is expected to create one million direct and indirect jobs in the IT and ITeS sectors over the policy period. It offers a wide range of incentives including capital and interest subsidies, land and rental support, and state GST reimbursement to attract global and domestic tech firms.
Both policies reflect the state’s commitment to economic diversification, digital transformation, and employment generation. Officials believe these initiatives will not only boost Odisha’s industrial competitiveness but also enhance its appeal as a destination for high-tech investments.
The cabinet also gave post-facto approval for the appointment of three new members to the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC).
