Bhubaneswar/New Delhi, Mar 30: Delhi witnessed a historic moment in its student council elections as Odia student leader, Soumyaranjan Badapanda, triumphed as the Ph.D. Councillor along with Chandan Rana, who was elected as the Education Councillor.
Hailing from Sambalpur, Soumyaranjan made history at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, where student council elections were held after three decades.
Soumyaranjan’s victory came amidst a tough competition with five other candidates from various states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
Soumyaranjan, currently pursuing research in Sanskrit Literature, expressed his gratitude towards Lord Jagannath, his family, teachers, and supporters. He stated, "This election was a massive challenge, but I am committed to solving student issues and working for the university's progress."
Soumyaranjan’s 15-point manifesto has set an ambitious tone, promising to start fulfilling his commitments this week. Chandan Rana, a student of Education in Sanskrit, also emphasised his dedication to addressing student concerns and advancing their well-being.
With a background in Odisha’s ABVP leadership roles, Soumyaranjan has now brought pride to his village, Khaliapali in Sambalpur, and his state. His achievement has become an inspiration, shining a spotlight on Odisha’s talent at the national level.
