Bhubaneshwar, April 1: Odisha embarks on a 14-day journey of pride and cultural splendour with the celebration of Odia Pakhya (the fortnight dedicated to Odisha & Odias).
Commencing on the auspicious occasion of Utkal Divas (April 1) and culminating with Odia New Year (April 14), this fortnight shines a spotlight on Odia language, art, literature, traditions, and history.
In his message to the Odias on the occasion of Utkal Divas, Mohan Charan Majhi, the honourable Chief Minister of Odisha, has called upon every Odia to embrace their heritage with enthusiasm and reflect the essence of being truly Odia in their hearts and daily lives.
He said that from promoting the rich Odia language to appreciating its culinary delights, attire, music, and vibrant dance forms, Odia Pakhya is a holistic tribute to the essence of the state.
CM Majhi said that the celebrations also pay homage to the sacrifices of the great visionaries who contributed to Odisha's unification in 1936, drawing attention to their extraordinary legacy.
“Events during this period encourage new aspirations, resolutions, and collective efforts for the further development of Odisha,” stated the Chief Minister.
“Odia Pakhya serves as a reminder of the remarkable achievements of the state and inspires citizens to inculcate cultural practices into their daily routine,” he added.
Through enthusiastic village, town, and community-wide participation, CM Majhi said that the festival aims to foster pride and unity across Odisha.
“Let us immerse ourselves in the joy of Odia Pakhya and contribute to the vision of a thriving Odisha while proudly embracing our linguistic and cultural identity,” the Chief Minister concluded his message.
