Bhubaneswar, June 23: Popular Odia comedian and actor Bhakta Prahlad Charan Pattnayak, affectionately known as Hadu, has been critically injured after falling in a hot oil pan. The incident occurred around 8 PM on Saturday at his residence in Unit-1, Bhubaneswar, while cooking was underway.

According to family sources, Hadu slipped on spilled oil and fell directly into a pan of boiling oil placed on a gas stove. The mishap resulted in severe burns to approximately 28% of his body, including injuries to his face, upper eyelids, and scalp. He was initially rushed to Capital Hospital, but due to the absence of a dedicated burn unit, doctors advised immediate transfer to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

He is currently undergoing treatment in the burn ICU of a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, where his condition is reported to be out of danger. Doctors have indicated that recovery may take two weeks, considering his pre-existing conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes.

Hadu is widely recognized for his comic roles in Odia films, television serials, and stage plays. Fans, fellow artists, and well-wishers from the Odia entertainment industry have been pouring in with messages of support and prayers for his speedy recovery.
