Bhubaneswar, Dec 25: Popular Odia comedian and YouTuber Ashis Kumar Das, popularly known as Mr Gulua, has stirred controversy after releasing a video on social media alleging threats to his life and extortion attempts.

In the emotional video, Gulua claimed that unidentified individuals have demanded Rs50 lakh from him and threatened to break his limbs if he failed to comply. He further alleged that if the money was not paid, he would be defamed online and falsely implicated in fabricated cases.

According to Gulua, the threats began with an initial demand of Rs1 crore, which later reduced to Rs50 lakh. He said the continuous intimidation has left him under severe mental stress, forcing him to seek protection. “My life is in danger. They have threatened to break my hands and legs,” he stated in the video, appealing for safety.

The controversy deepened when Gulua’s wife, Varsha, came forward with startling revelations. She accused the comedian and his family of subjecting her to domestic violence for years. “I have been a victim of household abuse for a long time. Gulua assaulted me and asked me to leave the house,” she alleged.

Varsha also claimed to possess videos of Gulua’s alleged relationships with multiple women. “Despite being his wife, he does not care for me. He maintains relationships with other women while refusing to end his ties with me. How can I accept this?” she said.

The allegations have triggered widespread debate in Odisha’s entertainment circles, raising questions about both personal conduct and the safety of public figures. While Gulua seeks protection from alleged extortionists, Varsha’s claims of abuse and infidelity have added a new dimension to the unfolding drama.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement, but the matter has drawn significant public attention, with many calling for a thorough investigation into both the threats and the domestic violence allegations.
