Bhubaneswar, Aug 2: Renowned Odia film actor and BJP MLA Sidhant Mohapatra’s mother, Dr Kanak Mohapatra passed away at their residence here in Odisha on Saturday. She was 84.
According to sources, Dr Mohapatra had been battling age-related ailments for the past few months.
Dr Mohapatra, a respected figure in the medical community, was known for her compassionate service as a doctor and her quiet strength as the matriarch of the Mohapatra family.
Her passing marks a profound personal loss for the actor-turned-politician Sidhant, who has often credited his parents for shaping his values and career.

✨Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other dignitaries expressed deep sorrow over her demise.
In a post on X, CM Majhi said: “I am deeply saddened to learn about the demise of Digapahandi MLA Sidhant Mohapatra’s mother. I paid my last respects at his Bhubaneswar residence and offered condolences to the grieving family. I pray to Lord Jagannath to grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family.
