Cuttack/Bhubaneswar, Aug 6: Pradeep Kumar Rath, Additional Chief Engineer, Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC), office at Chief Construction Engineer, R & B Cuttack Circle, has been arrested Tuesday morning by the Odisha Vigilance.

Based on searches conducted on properties of Rath, he was found in possession of disproportionate assets including 2 multi-storeyed buildings, 2 high-value flats in the Capital City, 45 Plots (3 more plots worth RSD value approx Rs 1 Crore unearthed), a medicine store, a crusher unit, gold approximately 1 Kg, deposits over Rs 1.62 Crore, 2 Four wheelers, 2 JCBs, 1 Excavator, 1 Rock breaker etc, which he could not account for satisfactorily.

Following this, Rath has been placed under arrest by Odisha Vigilance and will be forwarded to Court Tuesday for possessing DA. In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS case No. 20/2024 has been registered against Rath.

Notably, Odisha Vigilance had conducted simultaneous raids Monday at 12 different locations, including his residential house, on properties associated with Rath. As many as nine DSPs and 11 Inspectors were among the officials in the team conducting the raids. 

Having the order from Special Judge, Vigilance, the raids were conducted at Rath's home in Satya Vihar and an apartment in Chandrasekharpur in the Capital City,  an apartment in Jagannathpur (Bhadrak), his office near Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, a couple of paternal houses in Agarpada and Randia Sasan (Bhadrak), underconstruction buildings in Jajpur, Khorda and Cuttack, a couple of his relatives' houses in Jajpur and Shastri Nagar (Bhubaneswar) and another paternal house in the Indradhanu Market in Nayapalli (Bhubaneswar).

Many important documents have also been reportedly recovered as searches continued Tuesday. During the searches Tuesday, three more plots in Dhenkanal worth approx RSD value Rs 1 crore unearthed. Further, insurance deposits over Rs 74 lakhs found, making total deposits over Rs 1.62 crore.
