Khariar (Nuapada), Jun 11: In a significant breakthrough, the Khariar police in Nuapada district have dismantled a notorious bike theft racket, recovering 15 stolen motorcycles and arresting four accused individuals.
According to Additional SP Ranjit Nayak, the successful operation marks a major achievement for law enforcement in tackling organized crime.
The investigation began after Jayadev Panda, a resident of Godhuhapadar village, lodged a complaint at Khariar police station on June 8 regarding his missing bike.
Acting on the complaint, a special police team led by the Khariar police inspector-in-charge and sub-inspectors Harekrushna Jani and Rajesh Agasti launched an extensive search operation across various locations.
Their efforts paid off when the first suspect was apprehended, leading to further interrogations that exposed the larger bike theft ring. As a result, authorities recovered 15 stolen motorcycles and arrested four individuals involved in the racket.
It has been revealed that the accused were primarily from the Khariar region but had also committed thefts in neighbouring districts.
Further investigations are ongoing to identify additional suspects connected to the case. The police have assured continued vigilance against such crimes and urged citizens to remain cautious about vehicle security.
