Nuapada, Sep 9: The district of Nuapada is observing a 12-hour shutdown today in a mark of respect for the late MLA Rajendra Dholakia, who passed away recently while undergoing treatment in Chennai.
The shutdown, which began at 6:00 AM and will continue until 6:00 PM, has been called by local organisations and community leaders to honour the veteran politician’s legacy.
Shops, markets, and public establishments across the region remain closed, with only emergency services allowed to operate during the bandh.
According to reports, the final rites of Rajendra Dholakia will be performed today. His mortal remains are expected to arrive at his native place, where family members, colleagues, and citizens will gather to pay their last respects.
