Odisha / Nuapada Bypoll: Hundreds of Women Volunteers From 63 Panchayats Join BJP

Nuapada, Nov 6: In a significant political development ahead of the Nuapada bypoll in Odisha, hundreds of women volunteers from 63 panchayats across Nuapada and Komna blocks formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at a gathering held in the district party office here on Thursday.
Motivated by the saffron party’s vision and leadership, the women pledged their allegiance in the presence of senior BJP leaders, signaling a significant boost to the party’s organizational strength in the region.
Led by Sumitra Sabar and Hemalata Raut from Nuapada block, and Shanti Behera and Hemin Sahu from Komna block, the volunteers hailed from villages such as Bhanpur, Kulihabandha, Khaliapali, Kodameri, Tarabada, Gandamer, Lakhna, and many more. Their participation marks a grassroots surge in BJP’s organizational strength in the region.

The induction ceremony was graced by Patnagarh MLA and
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, former Kalahandi MP Basanta
Panda, State General Secretary Biranchi Narayan Tripathy, and State General
Secretary (Women) Purnima Priyadarshini Nayak. The leaders welcomed the new
members with party caps and ‘uttariyas’.

Welcoming the new members, the Deputy Chief Minister expressed confidence that
the support of these women volunteers would significantly boost the party’s
campaign and ensure a strong victory for BJP candidate Jay Dholakia in the
upcoming Nuapada by-election.
“The enthusiasm and
commitment shown by these women volunteers reflect the growing trust in BJP’s
vision for development and empowerment,” he said. “Their support will be
instrumental in ensuring a decisive victory for our candidate Jay Dholakia in
the upcoming Nuapada bypoll.”
Notably, the November 11 Nuapada bypoll was necessitated by the demise of former BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia. A total of 14 candidates are contesting the bypoll, including BJP’s Jay Dholakia, BJD nominee Snehangini Chhuria, and Congress candidate Ghasiram Majhi.
