Balasore, Jan 27: Noted freedom fighter Anant Charan Khatua passed away at his residence in Narasinghpur village under Nilgiri block in Balasore district early this morning. He was 96.
People from different of walks of life rushed to Khatua's house and paid homage to him. Khatua was involved in many social welfare works in the area.
According to family sources, Khatua was suffering from old-age-related diseases for many days. He breathed his last this evening. All his family members were present at his deathbed.

✨Khatua along with others was actively involved in freedom movement. He was jailed for fighting against the Britishers.
Informed about his death, local MLA Sukant Naik rushed to his village and paid homage to him. The MLA also draped his body with the national flag as part of State honour provided to nationalist leaders.
