Athagarh, Mar 1: Baramana Reserve Forest in Karadapali village under Tigiria block in Athagarh has turned into graveyard for cattle. 


Cows in huge numbers were being trafficked from across the country to Baramana Reserve Forest and were killed. Later, their meat and skin were trafficked outside the State to meet the business purpose of smugglers. Such an incident has come to fore after the skeletons of these cows were found in the forest. 

According to reports, the illegal trade was being carried out for past 24 years. After the formation of the new party in the State, the local administration and police swung into action.


This called for immediate investigation by the officials.

Taking serious note of the report, the Cuttack rural police conducted raid and rescued more than 500 cattle from the Barman forest two months ago.

Following the incident, forest officials, Tigiria tehsildar and officials of the Tigiria police station reached the Karadapalli Barman reserve forest and started efforts to bury the dismembered bones of the cattle.
