Bhubaneswar, April 15: Bhubaneswar and Cuttack witnessed a much-needed respite from the scorching summer heat as a Kalabaisakhi (Nor'wester) shower swept through the region on Tuesday.
Accompanied by lightning, heavy rain, and strong winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 50 km/h, the nor'wester brought relief to residents in the twin city who had been enduring relentless heat for weeks.
Several areas in the twin city experienced consistent rainfall, refreshing the environment and lowering temperatures considerably. The gusty winds, though offering relief, also caused minor disruptions such as fallen tree branches and localized power outages in some parts of the cities.
The neighboring areas of Dhenkanal also experienced similar weather condition as the rain activity expanded its reach, spreading cool breezes and a sense of relief across the region.

✨Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological centre issued orange and yellow warnings for thunderstorm, lightning and rainfall over several districts in Odisha during the next 24 hours.
The Met Centre predicted that thunderstorm and lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph and hailstorm is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at a few places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput till 8.30 AM of Wednesday.
Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput during the period, it added.
