No Sixth Term But Change In Government Imminent: BJP Heavyweights

Key Points

Five BJP heavyweight leaders, Dharmendra Pradhan, Manmohan Samal, Baijayant Panda, Aparajita Sarangi and Pratap Sarangi on Monday severely criticized the Naveen Patnaik government over its various failures and asserted that Odisha would see a BJP government for the first time.

Bhubaneswar, Mar 13: Five BJP heavyweight leaders, Dharmendra Pradhan, Manmohan Samal, Baijayant Panda, Aparajita Sarangi and Pratap Sarangi on Monday severely criticized the Naveen Patnaik government over its various failures and asserted that Odisha would see a BJP government for the first time.

They blamed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the unavailability of drinking water and educational institutes and hospitals lacking teachers and doctors, respectively.

"The BJD is going to retire on June 4. There will be no sixth term (of Naveen Patnaik) but, instead, there will be a change in government in the State," said the leaders.

"Odisha is heading towards a breathtaking change. The Prime Minister has set an agenda to make Odisha the number-one State in the country. Odisha has not developed in the last 25 years," said Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

BJP State president Manmohan Samal slammed Naveen's close aide and BJD leader VK Pandian for his recent remark.

"The Chief Minister's Gumasta (Pandian) says he will retire if his party loses the election. How does a person born with a gold spoon and spending a luxurious life take as Janseva (service to people)? True politicians accept both victory and loss," contended Samal.

BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda said the Odisha government has been outsourced.

"The government in Odisha has been outsourced. The Chief Minister made by the people of Odisha has been controlled as a doll. The Chief Minister has been captivated," said Panda, the party's Lok Sabha candidate from Kendrapara.

Bhuaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi said the Jagannath Temple Parikrama project has been done without considering the temple's security.

Former Union Minister and MP Pratap Sarangi pulled up the Odisha government for the killing of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati.

"Hindus were tortured. Support of foreign powers was taken for conversion. Naveen's silent support was behind everything," said Sarangi, the party candidate from Balasore.
