58 raids conducted to curb black marketing and illegal hoarding. Government assures farmers of continued supply and strict enforcement.

Bhubaneswar, Sep 11: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister KV Singh Deo has assured farmers that there is no fertilizer shortage in the state.

Following a high-level review meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Singh Deo clarified that while demand has increased compared to last year, the supply is sufficient to meet agricultural needs.

The Deputy CM stated that the state has received more fertilizer than required, and only 8 to 10 days of additional supply is needed to meet the remaining demand. He emphasized that the government is actively monitoring distribution and ensuring timely availability across districts.

However, Singh Deo acknowledged that black marketing has been reported in some areas. In response, the government has launched enforcement raids at 58 locations, targeting illegal hoarding and overpricing. Strict action has been taken against violators, and further surveillance is underway to prevent exploitation of farmers.

The review meeting also highlighted that the favourable monsoon has led to increased agricultural activity, thereby raising fertilizer demand. Singh Deo reiterated that the government is committed to maintaining transparency and fairness in distribution, and urged farmers to report any irregularities.

Officials from the Agriculture and Cooperation Departments have been directed to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and coordinate with district administrations for smooth supply.
