Berhampur, Feb 22: Overwhelmed by a robust gathering of party workers and supporters here, Union Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday gauged the impending performance of the BJP as sufficient to form a double-engine government in Odisha in the 2024 general elections. 

"From the huge gathering in front of me, I see no one can stop us (the BJP) from forming a double-engine government in Odisha in the 2024 elections," the Union Minister said.   

Singh was addressing the huge gathering at Ambapua Bibek Bihari ground here today. He was given a grand reception on his arrival at the Rangeilunda airstrip by a special helicopter around noon. 

The BJP veteran said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a special love for Odisha, which has been proved by his work and support. 

"In its 10 years, the Congress-led UPA Government provided only Rs 3 lakh crore to Odisha. But the Modi Government has opened its hand and given Rs 18 lakh crore in just nine years," said Singh boastfully. 

Singh said 25 lakh Odia people were given pucca houses under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana. 

Odisha people have benefitted much from all Central schemes introduced by the Modi government, he said. 

"Be it Ujjwala Yojana, household toilets, or Jan Dhan, women have benefitted much. Over 2 crore women have been made lakhpati," he said. 

The Union Minister said Odisha's development needs to be fast-paced as without it Viksit Bharat can't be possible. 

"Odisha needs to be developed on all fronts. We have to make a Viksit Odisha to achieve Viksit Bharat," he pointed out and urged workers to work hard to see that Odisha gets the majority number of MPs and MLAs in the 2024 elections.
