Bhubaneswar, Sep 28: Odisha’s Water Resources Department has confirmed that there is no flood-like situation in any of the state’s rivers. Chief Engineer Chandra Sekhar Padhi stated that rainfall intensity has reduced significantly, and all rivers are currently flowing below danger levels.

Padhi informed that only three block headquarters received 50 mm of rainfall on Saturday, indicating a decline in precipitation. He emphasized that the situation is under control and there is no cause for alarm.

At Hirakud reservoir, the inflow stands at 2.28 lakh cusecs, while 1.32 lakh cusecs of water are being discharged through six gates. Similarly, the Rengali reservoir is receiving 855 cumecs of water and releasing 803 cumecs. Padhi assured that all reservoirs have sufficient capacity to hold water and are being monitored closely.

The Water Resources Department will conduct a fresh review after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) assesses the upcoming low-pressure system. Padhi reiterated that the department is prepared to respond swiftly to any changes in weather patterns.

This update brings relief to residents across Odisha, especially those in flood-prone areas, as the state continues to manage its water resources effectively amid seasonal rainfall.
