Rourkela, Jan 14: On Army Day, the NCC Army Wing of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela hosted its annual cultural festival, CAMO CARNIVAL 3.0, at the BB Auditorium. The event celebrated the valour, discipline, and selfless service of the Indian Army while offering a vibrant platform for cadets and students to showcase leadership, patriotism, and national service, officials said on Thursday.
The programme drew an audience of over 800, including cadets from the 9 Odisha Battalion, students, faculty, and staff. Organised under the guidance of Prof. Mayank Yadav, Professor-in-Charge of the NCC Army Wing, the event was supported by various clubs of the Student Activity Centre (SAC).
Major General (Dr.) Yashpal Singh Mor, Sena Medal (Retd.), graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp in the presence of dignitaries including Prof. Niranjan Kumar Panda, Dean of Student Welfare, and Prof. Rajeev Kumar Panda, President of SAC.
Addressing the gathering, Major General Mor emphasised the importance of unity, social harmony, and cultural exchange. He urged students to travel across India to experience its diversity and build friendships across communities. Extending Army Day greetings to Odisha, he praised the resilience of its youth and encouraged them to consider careers in the armed forces. “The Army transforms lives. It recognises your passion, values your hard work, rewards talent, and prepares you to face the world with confidence and courage,” he said.

He further highlighted the role of indigenous research and innovation in strengthening national capabilities, citing drones as a multi-use technology for defence, agriculture, and disaster management. Stressing the need for physical fitness, reading, and meaningful human interaction, he urged students to reduce screen time and reconnect with nature.
The three-hour programme featured cultural performances, including a patriotic dance by the Nritunjay Club, poetry recitation by the Kalaam Club, and a musical segment by the Heartbeats Club. An Army documentary screening and an interactive podcast session with the Chief Guest added depth to the celebrations. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem.
CAMO CARNIVAL 3.0 reinforced the NCC’s mission to nurture discipline, leadership, and national pride among students, aligning with the spirit of Army Day.
