Rourkela, Apr 25: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has achieved a remarkable milestone in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2025, securing the 191st rank among universities across Asia.

NIT Rourkela has also emerged as the 12th best university in India and holds the distinction of being the top and only National Institute of Technology to feature in the top 200 institutions in the continent.

THE Asia University Rankings 2025 assessed 853 universities from 35 countries and territories, evaluating them based on 18 performance indicators including research, teaching, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. This recognition underscores NIT Rourkela’s commitment to academic excellence and global innovation.

Expressing pride in this accomplishment, Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao, Director of NIT Rourkela, stated, “It is encouraging to see our innovative efforts acknowledged on a global scale. The achievement is even more meaningful as we were recently selected as the only NIT to be a Hub Institute under the ANRF’s PAIR programme.”

This feat highlights the institute's strong foundation in collaborative research, knowledge exchange, and its pursuit of academic development.
