Republic Day Ceremony
President Droupadi Murmu presided over the 77th Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, by unfurling the National Flag and taking the salute. The ceremony featured the National Anthem and a 21-gun salute fired using indigenous 105-mm Light Field Guns.

Odisha Tableau Shines
Odisha’s tableau drew attention at Kartavya Path during the 77th Republic Day parade, highlighting cultural heritage and technological aspirations. Designed by Gajendra Sahoo and Kirti Maharana, the 45-foot-long tableau featured a semiconductor chip and Koraput coffee, symbolising innovation and tribal livelihoods.

Ashok Chakra For Captain
Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla was conferred the Ashok Chakra by President Droupadi Murmu during Republic Day celebrations. A member of the Axiom-4 mission, Shukla became the second Indian to travel to space and the first to visit the International Space Station.

R-Day Parade Debut
The Bhairav Light Commando Battalion made its first public appearance at the Republic Day parade. Raised in October 2025, the unit reflects the Indian Army’s future-ready combat doctrine. The indigenous ‘Suryastra’ Universal Rocket Launcher System was also showcased during the ceremony.

Odisha State Celebrations
Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati unfurled the National Flag at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar, while Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi did so in Cuttack. Fifty-two contingents, including CRPF, OISF, Home Guards, Civil Defence and students, participated in the parade.

EU Leaders at Parade
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said a successful India strengthens global stability and prosperity while attending the 77th Republic Day parade. Along with European Council President Antonio Costa, she was received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Kartavya Path in New Delhi.

Private Jet Crash
A private jet carrying eight people crashed and burst into flames while taking off from Bangor International Airport in Maine. The FAA confirmed the Bombardier Challenger 600 aircraft went down around 7:45 pm local time and an investigation has been launched.

'Dhurandhar' Actor Arrested
Mumbai Police arrested 'Dhurandhar' actor Nadeem Khan for allegedly raping his domestic help over 10 years on the promise of marriage. Based on a complaint by a 41-year-old woman, Khan was taken into custody on January 22 and is currently in police custody.
