New BJP President
Nitin Nabin took charge as the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at Party Headquarters in New Delhi in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders. At 45, Nabin is the youngest national president in the party’s history.

‘Nitin Nabin My Boss’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Nitin Nabin on his election as BJP national president, calling him the youngest leader to hold the post. Modi remarked that Nabin will be his “boss” in party matters, highlighting his organisational strength and youthful energy.

India’s Growth Forecast
International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised India’s economic growth projection for 2025 by 0.7 percentage point to 7.3 per cent. In World Economic Outlook update, IMF said, upward revision reflects strong momentum in the fourth quarter of this fiscal year.


Record Electronics Exports
India recorded electronics exports worth $47 billion in 2025, with $30 billion from production-linked incentive driven smartphone exports. Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted electronics as the nation’s third-largest export item, marking a significant milestone in India’s trade performance.


Odisha Census 2027
Odisha will conduct the first phase of Census 2027 from April 16 to May 15, 2026, focusing on house listing and assets. The second phase in February 2027 will cover population enumeration statewide.


Birds Flock Hirakud
Over 4.21 lakh birds visited Hirakud reservoir in Odisha's Sambalpur district this winter. The census recorded 128 species, including five new ones, with Tufted Duck, Lesser Whistling Duck, and Common Coot most numerous.

Energy security
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company Gas (ADNOC Gas) and its subsidiaries sign a 10-yeara LNG supply agreement with Hindustan Petroleum, valued at $2.5–3 billion. The deal ensures 0.5 million tonnes annually, strengthening India’s energy security and deepening bilateral energy cooperation with Abu Dhabi.

India-EU FTA Deal
India and the European Union are set to sign a landmark free trade agreement at the Jan 27 summit, following Republic Day celebrations. The deal will be accompanied by security and defence cooperation and a pact enhancing mobility for Indian professionals in Europe.

EU Plans Emergency Summit
European Union leaders will convene an emergency summit on Thursday over US tariff threats tied to President Trump’s Greenland remarks. Spokesperson Olof Gill said the bloc is engaging Washington and stands ready to safeguard its economic interests.
