Varanasi Gets Rs 2,200 Cr Projects
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth approximately Rs 2,200 crore in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi.

PM-KISAN Funds Released
Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.This installment, amounting to Rs 2,000 per eligible farmer, was transferred directly into the bank accounts of over 9.7 crore farmers across India via Direct Benefit Transfer.


In Odisha, more than 35 lakh farmers received the benefit this time.

Hearing Deferred
The Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal deferred its hearing to September 6 after Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has expressed his government’s readiness to consider Odisha’s proposal for an amicable settlement of the issue.

Stern Directives
The Odisha government has banned the sale, transport, and storage of petrol and diesel in plastic bottles and unauthorised containers across the state. The Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department has issued a formal letter to all district collectors.

Retired Teachers Re-Engaged
In an an official letter issued by the Directorate of Secondary Education, 6,387 retired teachers will be re-engaged as guest educators. These appointments will be temporary and subject to vacancy status in respective schools.

Sidhant Mohapatra’s Mother No More
Renowned Odia film actor and BJP MLA Sidhant Mohapatra’s mother, Dr Kanak Mohapatra passed away at the age of 84 at their residence in Bhubaneswar. Dr Mohapatra had been battling age-related ailments for the past few months.

Pushkara Wins Big
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi congratulated the teams of ‘Pushkara’ for winning the Best Odia Film at the 71st National Film Awards. Starring Sabyasachi Mishra and Supriya, the film is based on writer Shankar Tripathy’s Odia novel ‘Nadabindu’.

Marijuana Seized
The Customs Department at Biju Patnaik International Airport on Saturday seized marijuana worth over Rs 8 crore and arrested one person in connection with the case. The contraband was discovered during routine baggage checks.

Deadly Accident
A man and his son were burnt alive after the bike they were travelling in collided with a speeding truck. The incident was reported at Narayanapatna block in Koraput district.
