Balasore, Apr 3: A newly-married woman allegedly found dead under suspicious circumstances at her in-laws house located in Basuli area under Bhograi police limits in Balasore district.

According to reports, the matter came to fore after the family members of the deceased woman, Sitara Khatun, lodged a complaint with police.

The deceased, Sitara had married one Saraf Khan few months ago and her parents had given cash and valuables as dowry during the marriage. Sitara's family members alleged that Saraf and his family members demanded additional Rs 2 lakh cash. Upon failing to pay, Sitara's in-laws started torturing her, resulting in her death, alleged the family.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case and initiated a probe.

While further probe by police is underway to ascertain whether her in-laws are involved in the alleged murder or not, on the other hand, the post-mortem was conducted in presence of Additional Tehsildar Pratap Kumar and the body was handed over to the family members.
