Balangir, Apr 10: A newborn girl was found abandoned near Negipali Nursery in Balangir district, Odisha, Thursday morning.

According to reports, the incident came to light this morning after some locals alerted the matter to police, who then rushed to the spot and rescued the infant.

The newborn was initially admitted to Community Health Center (CHC) in Loisingha and later shifted to the SNCU unit of Bhima Bhoi Medical College & Hospital in Balangir for further care.

Reportedly, police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify the mother and the circumstances that led to the abandonment.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and discussions about the need for greater awareness regarding infant care and abandonment.
